The application deadline for the next academic year is usually mid- or late January.

Application procedure:

Step 1: Contact and prepare your documents
First, contact the ELAN coordinator at the University of Graz to find out about the application process. Consult the STUDENT Handbook, which provides important tips and information.

Step 2: Then submit the ELAN application form (available on the ELAN network website under HOW TO APPLY) together with the following documents:

  • Curriculum vitae
  • Transcript of records
  • Short letter of motivation in English

Send your complete application documents by email exclusively to elan(at)uni-graz.at.

Step 3: Review of formal criteria
Once your application has been received, it will first be reviewed to ensure that it meets the formal requirements.

Step 4: Selection process
After the application deadline, all applications received will be reviewed. The ELAN coordinator will first decide which applications will be forwarded to the ELAN partner institutions requested by the applicants. The partner institutions will then check whether a place can be allocated within the exchange quota for the respective academic year.

Step 5: Decision by the ELAN Board
The final decision on the acceptance of your application is made by the ELAN Board, which is composed of the ELAN coordinators from all participating universities. The ELAN Board meeting usually takes place at the end of February/beginning of March each year.

Step 6: Additional documents for the Erasmus programme
Once you have been accepted via the ELAN network, your home university will nominate you. You must submit or upload additional documents via the Mobility-Online portal in order to participate in the Erasmus programme. These include:

  • Erasmus+ application form
  • Planned study project
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Proof of required language skills
  • Transcript of records
  • Letter of motivation in English
  • Confirmation of deposit payment

Further information can be found at: Study abroad - Office for International Relations

We wish you every success with your application!
