Step by step through the application process
Bachelor's and Master's students as well as doctoral candidates whose studies are based in the Faculty of Humanities can apply here for a funded study visit as part of the European Liberal Arts Network.
In addition to the name, field of study and language skills, the application must include the choice of the desired exchange university and a brief outline of your own study or research project. Once the application form has been received, the application will be checked for compliance with the formal requirements (e.g. sufficient language skills for the desired exchange university). In the positive case, applicants will be asked to send a CV, a transcript of records and a short letter of motivation in English to the ELAN coordinator.
After the application deadline, the applications received will be reviewed. In a first step, the ELAN coordinator decides which of the applications will be submitted to the ELAN partner institutions requested by the applicants. These in turn decide whether the applicants can be awarded a place as part of the exchange quota for the relevant academic year.
If applicants meet the formal criteria, they must still complete or upload the application documents listed in Mobility Online in order to participate in the Erasmus program (** with the exception of the University of Bristol).
The final decision on the acceptance of an application is made by the ELAN Board, which is made up of the ELAN coordinators of all participating universities and usually meets at the end of February/beginning of March each year.
The application deadline for the next academic year is announced in the News section on the homepage. As a rule, the application deadline is in the middle or end of January.
Applications must be submitted in English using the ELAN application form below.
